Timing Is Everything

My daughter was helping me out with something on Sunday and sighed when I asked her to come back so she could finish helping me.  My reply to her sigh was, “you walked away before your assignment was complete.”

Yes honey. This word is for me and for those of you ready to walk away before your assignment is done. It’s tempting to throw in the towel when you feel like you just can’t handle it anymore. You’re frustrated, tired, ready to cuss folks out…pretty much hanging on with the little bit of strength you manage to pull from your soul. You’re making plans right now as you read this to throw in the towel.

Let me say this…timing is everything.

I’m learning as I go through my personal challenges that it’s important for me to ask myself the following questions and be honest with my answers:

  1.  Why am I here?
  2.  What do I need to learn?
  3.   How can I grow from this?
  4.   What valuable lessons can I take with me when I transition to my next assignment?

It’s easy to walk away when we are in our feelings; not realizing that we will end up doing more harm than good. Walking away before your assignment is done puts you in a position of having to recover, rather than being further ahead.

I would encourage you to step back and take a look at the entire picture. What resources are currently at your fingertips that can be used to help propel you further? Whom have you met that can help you complete your assignment? What is God saying about your transition…is He saying, “soon, but not yet.” Re-evaluate your attitude, position and authority. If God placed you in it, He will see you through it.

I’m reminded of the story about David and Goliath. David had a specific assignment and although Goliath looked like he would wear David all the way out, he used what he had to defeat the giant. Use what God has given you to complete your assignment. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” {Galatians 6:9}

Stay encouraged. Do not give up. Finish your assignment and remember that timing is everything and God’s time is always good.

From my heart to yours,
